AIB jazz concert raises €1500 for children’s charity

By Catherine Sherry, AIB

The Associated Interpreters of Barcelona (AIB) care deeply about the work we do and the world we live in. As professional interpreters and translators, helping people to understand each other is the very heart of what we do. We also strive to uphold our values of excellence, integrity, constant improvement, innovation, and commitment to our customers and our colleagues.

AIB is proud to be a partner of SOS Children’s Villages as part of our corporate social responsibility, to contribute to a brighter future for vulnerable children worldwide. Last week, for the third year running, AIB was once again honoured to organise a fundraising jazz concert in Barcelona starring AIB’s very own multi-talented Cristina Amils (expert interpreter, AIB treasurer AND accomplished jazz singer), accompanied by professional pianist Joan Amils – who also happens to be Cristina’s father!

Introduced by AIB President Patricia Lluch, the dynamic Amils duo delighted a packed auditorium in central Barcelona with a sparkling repertoire of jazz songs such as A Child Is Born, Mediterráneo, La Javanaise and Don’t You Worry 'Bout a Thing. Drawing on the many language strings in her bow, Cristina sang flawlessly and shared the stories behind the music to some 160 friends, family and customers of AIB in Catalan, English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese! The performance was capped off with drinks and nibbles for all, and of course a celebratory glass of local cava.

AIB would like to thank all those who contributed generously and helped us raise a fabulous €1,557 for SOS Children’s Villages. If you missed out on the evening but would still like to donate, you still have until the end of October! To do so please contact us at aib@aibcnet.com. We look forward to seeing you next year, if not before!
